The Provincial Water Resources Department held a technical promotion and training session on the intelligent underground retractable sprinkler irrigation system

To accelerate the promotion of advanced and practical new technologies (products) in waterconservancy and to further advance the development of water-saving irrigation in Henan   Province, the Department of Science and Technology of the Henan Provincial Water Resources Department and the Henan Water Resources Science and Technology Promotion Center organized a technical training and promotion workshop on the intelligent retractable subsurface sprinkler irrigation system in Zhengzhou on 29 October 2019, in accordance with the work plan of the Science and Technology Promotion Center of the Ministry of Water Resources.

The retractable subsurface sprinkler is a patented water saving irrigation product developed by Henan Jishiyu Water-Saving Irrigation Equipment Co. Ltd., and has been included   in the 2019 Ministry of Water Resources Catalog of Advanced and Practical    Technologies for Promotion. During irrigation, the sprinkler head automatically extends   above   ground,   with a maximum retractable height of 3 meters. After irrigation ceases, the sprinkler retracts 40 cm below the surface. This system occupies minimal land, does not interfere with field operations, and has low maintenance costs. Equipped with an automatic soil moisture monitoring system and a mobile app, it enables real-time remote- controlled   irrigation   and   integrated water-fertilizer management, significantly improving water and land use   efficiency, reducing   labor, and increasing crop yield. It is particularly suitable for tall-stalk cash crops and   landscaping   irrigation, demonstrating   broad prospects for   application and promotion.

At the workshop, Huang Xiuqiao, Director of the Xinjiang Irrigation Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, delivered a keynote report titled Advances inCutting-Edge Water-Saving Irrigation Technologies and Equipment, which combined    practical applicability with forward-looking insights. Participants widely acknowledged    that the session enriched their knowledge and broadened their perspectives. Attendees also conducted an on-site observation of a 100-acre demonstration zone for the intelligent    retractable subsurface sprinkler irrigation system in Liu’an Village, Qiaobei Township,    Yuanyang County. The training and promotion workshop achieved its intended objectives   and yielded positive outcomes.

More than 70 participants attended the event, including technical staff from municipal water resources bureaus, design institutes, and relevant departments under the Provincial Water Resources Department.
